EDUCATION - PEARL TYPES

South Sea Pearls

The region most of these pearls are from is in the South Pacific in the areas around Australia. They generally run 10 - 15mm in size or can also be in a baroque shape. The colors of south sea pearls are primarily white, rose or golden.

Tahitian Pearls

Most Tahitian pearls are produced in the Polynesian Islands. The size of Tahitian pearls can range from 8 to 16mm and also are found in unusual baroque shapes. The natural colors of a Tahitian pearl can be a silver grey to dark green and black.

Fresh Water Pearls

Freshwater pearls are grown mainly in China’s rivers & lakes. They are less expensive and can be grown in round & unusual shapes, which makes them desirable for many designers. The colors are shades of white and some are available in other subtle hues.

Keshi Pearls

Keshi pearls are cultivated with no nucleolus and are composed entirely of nacre. They are generally from Japan or China. Our lustrous, hand selected Keshi pearls create beautiful Avant Garde jewelry.
